Car Insurance Eagle (Car Insurance). I'm about 100 miles over my recommended oil change, Is it okay if I put it off until tomorrow after my test?I'm about 100 miles over my recommended oil change, Is it okay if I put it off until tomorrow after my test? Last time I went to the Jiffy Lube, It told me to get my oil changed again at 7846 miles. It's at like 7900 miles but I'd really like to use today to study for my final exam tomorrow. Would it be awful if I waited to do it on my way home from school? I bought it in August brand new so it's been taken good care of up until now. The light isn't on or anything to get it changed. Will it like blow up if I don't do it today? Thanks! oil change isnt really that crucial. it sort of is but not THAT important. the more older the oil is, the inside of the engine will find it harder to move. my first car that i bought was on 67 000 miles. i looked at the servicing books after i bought it, and found out that the last time it ever had an oil change ( full Service ) was when the car was 45 000 miles. lol i was shocked haha. but yeah you dont need to change it immediatly. just make sure you get it changed soon. your engine will be fine so dont worry. When to change the oil is suggestions and you don't have to follow the suggestions down to the minute. Get the oil changed tomorrow and don't worry about it. yes another day wont kill it but i wouldnt go far dont drive long distance until you get a oil change its better if you put oil today It will be fine.I do suggest you find somewhere besides Jiffy Lube to get your car serviced. Those people are mostly idiots. Many dealerships offer oil changes at a price comparable to the quick lube places..Most modern cars have an oil life sensor that tells you when to change the oil.Read your owners manual about oil change intervals and follow the recommendations. Yes you can wait. You did not say what type of car but if you check your owners manual it prob. says 5000 or 7500 miles and jiffy lube sticker is prob. for 3000 miles Judging by the fact that you have already had it changed once and you have under 8000 miles, I'd guess they told you to change it 4000 miles after the last change. No, it won't cause any problems to go slightly over that, especially if you are using good quality oil. Keep in mind, they obviously will tell you to change your oil more often than necessary because they will get more business that way. That being said, make sure to get it done soon. It will be fine.I do suggest you find somewhere besides Jiffy Lube to get your car serviced. Those people are mostly idiots. Many dealerships offer oil changes at a price comparable to the quick lube places..Most modern cars have an oil life sensor that tells you when to change the oil.Read your owners manual about oil change intervals and follow the recommendations. No nothing is going to happen like your car blowing up but if you are really worried, just check to see that you have enough oil topped up. It's not a time bomb it's a lubricating fluid. Depending on the oil you can safely go to around 5k miles (within 6 months) and just change it at that point. It's always better to do it quicker but it's not like this is a high revving sports car...just get it done when you have the money and time within that 6 month period. JIFFY LUBE = JIFFY KABOOM Take it somewhere else there are the well..... Your probably be fine. That is if the put enough oil in it to begin with and or they really changed it. I would check the oil level. You should be changing it every 3K. A hair over is not the end of the world. recent studies have determined that the oil is still ok at that mileage, go ahead adn do what you need to do but when you get back take care of it. and to the gent that refered to jiffy lube being a buck of idiots, i worked there for 17 years and i am an ase certified master tech and so much more. Eagle . How to Troubleshoot the Interior Dash Light on a 1986 Chevy TruckThe 1986 Chevy truck is equipped with an interior dashboard light. The dash light allows the driver to see the warning lights and gauges in the dark without producing glare that would obstruct the driver's view of the road. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need test light digital volt ohm meter wire probe ground probe dash light bulb needle-nose pliers Step by Step : 1 Locate the 1986 Chevy truck's fuse box. Look under the dashboard on the left forward side of the driver's side. 2 Open the fuse box by hand. 3 Locate the dash light fuse. Look on the underside of the fuse box cover; the fuse arrangement is stamped on the cover. 4 Connect the ground wire of the test light to a solid ground source. The gas pedal is a good source. 5 Touch the test light probe to the left and then right post of the fuse. The test light should light up when either is touched. 6 Use needle-nose pliers to remove the burned-out fuse, if necessary. 7 Replace the old fuse with a new one by hand. 8 Visually inspect the red and black wires leading to the dash light plug for melted or damaged wire. If the wire is damaged, replace the damaged portions using new wire and wire connectors. 9 Connect the ground probe of the digital volt ohm meter to a good ground source. Step by Step : 10 Use the red probe to check the wire for positive voltage. The gauge should read 12 to 14 volts with the engine off. Replace the wires if it does not read 12 volts. Step by Step : 11 Remove the dash light bulb by hand and examine it for damage. If the light is damaged, replace it with a new bulb. Tips & Warnings Handle the fuse carefully. The small spade connectors can become damaged, causing damage to the fuse box. It is not necessary to disconnect the battery to troubleshoot this system. Make sure it is connected so you can check the voltage going to the dash light. Remove the dash light bulb carefully. It is glass and can break. Hand tools should be used properly. Failure to do so can damage equipment and persons.
Eagle . How to Reset the Dash Light on a '99 Chevy MetroThe dash light on a 1999 Chevy Metro comes on when there is regular maintenance that needs to be done. There are many dash lights that indicate low oil pressure, or a failure in the emissions control system, for example. If the "service engine" light comes on, you'll need to have a diagnostic scan done on the vehicle. This can be done, in most cases, for free at any auto parts store. Once you've fixed the problem or performed the regular maintenance, you need to know how to reset the lights. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Step by Step : 1 Open the fuse panel under the steering column by pulling down on the panel cover with your fingers. 2 Locate the ECU (electronic control unit) fuse using the diagram on the underside of the fuse panel cover. 3 Pull the fuse for the ECU using the fuse pullers that are mounted in the fuse panel. Since the ECU controls the dash lights, removing this fuse will start the reset process for all systems. 4 Turn the ignition to the "II" position (the "on" position), but don't crank the engine. 5 Wait five minutes, then replace the ECU fuse. The dash lights will reset. *torsion bars, and air Air spring Torsion bar springs. Leaf springs are usually made up of several relatively thin metal plates, called leaves, piled one on top of the other. The reason for using these layers instead of one thick metal bar is that, as a bar bends, the top of the bar has to stretch a little. Unlike a single, thick bar, which, if bent too far, would split from the top down, leaf springs are more flexible — each leaf bends independently, and the leaves can slide on one another instead of breaking (see Figure 11-8). Each end of a set of leaf springs is attached to the frame at the rear of the car with fittings that allow the springs to bend and move freely. These fittings usually have rubber bushings that allow the fittings to bend and twist freely; they also absorb some of the vibration and pre vent it from reaching the passenger compartment. See Chapter 16 for details on leaf springs and how to care for them. 464

They're usually found at the front of the car, although they can be at both the front and the rear. Coil springs are typically used with strut-type suspensions, too. Figure 11-7 shows one type of coil spring; Figure 16-7 shows front and rear springs. You can find instructions for lubricating them in Chapter 16. At the front end, coil springs help cushion the bumps, vibrations, and steering movements. At the rear, they're suspended between control arms that have rubber bushings. v0 Torsion bars (refer to Figures 11-7 and 16-9) are used mainly in sport-utility vehicles and pre-1980 Chrysler products. They are located at the front of the vehicle, connected to the lower control arms. They twist to accommodate differences in the load that the car may be carrying, allowing the front wheels to move up and down freely. Think of torsion bars as coil springs that didn't get wound into a spiral. W Air springs are usually found on luxury vehicles. A rubber air spring can be filled with the right amount of compressed air to control the ride and maintain the proper height. With this type of system, a computer monitors the ride height and signals an onboard air compressor to pump more air into the air springs whenever weight is added to the vehicle. When the weight is removed, the computer turns on an exhaust solenoid to let air out of the air springs (refer to Figures 11-7 and 16-10). Usually, there's nothing to lubricate with air springs. But check with the dealer to find out whether it's okay to apply a rubber conditioner to the air bags to prevent them from wearing out prematurely. .Chapter 11: Steering and Suspension Systems Smooth the Way Shocks and struts Shock absorbers (see Figure 11-9) and MacPherson struts (see Figure 11-10) do most of the work of protecting the passenger compartment from bumps. One or the other is located near each wheel. The way they cut down on vertical movement is interesting. When a wheel hits a bump, it tends to keep bouncing up and down long after the bump has been left behind unless the movement is controlled. The bouncing effect is due to the inflated rubber tire on the wheel, and also to the fact that a coil spring that is either pulled or compressed doesn't just snap back into its former shape but keeps moving up and down for some time afterward. Shock absorbers and struts allow the springs to compress freely and to return or rebound slowly — like the door check on a storm door that opens quickly and easily but closes gently. Eagle .
